The construction of Hoima City Stadium, also known as Hoima National Stadium or FUFA Rujumba Stadium, is one of Uganda’s most ambitious infrastructure projects. Located in Mparo Division, Hoima City, this ultra-modern facility will host matches for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Uganda will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania.
A Landmark for Ugandan Sports

Hoima Stadium sits on 34.9 acres of land and is designed to become a multi-sports and community hub. With a seating capacity of 20,000, it will bring international-standard sports closer to the people of Bunyoro and Uganda at large.
Construction Progress and Timeline
The Ugandan government contracted Summa International Construction Company, a Turkish firm, to deliver the project. Construction began in September 2024 and is scheduled for completion by December 2025 — well ahead of AFCON 2027.
Valued at USD 129 million (UGX 484 billion), the project employs over 1,000 workers, 80% of whom are Ugandan. By mid-2025, progress had surpassed 70%, with roofing, seating, pools, and outdoor courts nearing completion.
