Transforming Urban Mobility in Uganda
Kampala is undergoing a remarkable transformation, with one of the most significant ongoing projects being the Salaama Road Upgrade. This development is part of the larger Kampala City Roads Rehabilitation Project (KCRRP), funded by the African Development Bank and executed by the China Railway 18th Bureau.
Once completed, Salaama Road will not only ease transport but also boost trade, improve safety, and enhance the lives of thousands of city dwellers.
Why Salaama Road Upgrade Matters
For years, Salaama Road has been known for congestion, poor drainage, and limited pedestrian access. The current upgrade directly addresses these issues by introducing:
- Wider road lanes to reduce traffic jams.
- Pedestrian sidewalks and cycle lanes to improve safety.
- Modern drainage systems to control flooding.
- Street lighting and junction redesigns for safer mobility.
This project is expected to be completed by December 2025, marking a new era in Kampala’s road infrastructure.
